Message Or give less power. And it does not burn hotter or give more power either. The octane test measures one thing only. The tendency for the fuel to autoignite due to heat of compression.

Running high octane gasoline in low compression engines does no harm to the engine and it produces the same level of power as regular. It's just a waste of money.
